Fashion Wave: Twin Set Sweater
Sweaters are becoming increasingly popular in the fashion apparel industry today because they are worn as functional clothing as well as stylish and fashionable clothing. The twin set sweater is one of the classic and popular choices among the sweater types for most women especially the working groups. The twin set was firstly introduced in the 1940s and popularized by the fashion icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly in the 1950s. Many designers started to design the twin sets with various modern designs and styles such as the “dip dye” styles which features fading color technique in the late 1990s to regain its popularity and target the modern type ladies.
Twin set sweater is a two piece garment which includes an outer layer piece of sweater having zips, buttons or ties and an underneath matching top. The outer layer is a cardigan which is commonly made from soft and light weight fabrics such as cashmere, cotton, wool, acrylic or a combination of those fabrics. The cardigan is available in long sleeves, ¾ sleeves or short sleeves length. It comes in many different styles such as the jewel neckline, v neckline, deep scoop neck and crew neck cardigan. Some of the cardigans are embroidered, trimmed with vertical ribbing, scalloped edging and designed with matching buttons or pearl buttons.
The under shell garment is usually a sleeveless sweater, short sleeve sweater or a tank top. It is also made from light weight fabrics such as cotton and cashmere. This inner layer garment is usually worn tight and form fitting to the body. It is normally designed with scoop neckline. The twinset layer garments always come in same styles and colours but some are designed with different but complimentary colours such as red colour cardigan with a matching black colour tank top. Besides, some are designed with patterns on one layer and the other layer shell is designed with plain solid colours.
The twin set sweater is great to wear on every season. It provides good warmth protection on chilly days or during cold season. On warmer days, the outer layer can be removed and worn tied around the waist or shoulder, or just tucked in the bag. The cardigan can be worn unbuttoned so that it can display the inner shell. We can choose to button up the cardigan during cold weather or in an air conditioned building. This twin set garment is great to wear as office attire when paired with a black pants or pencil skirts. The cashmere or angora twin set sweater is a perfect match with pearl jewellery and wear with a matching dark colour pant or solid colour long skirt to create an elegant and classy look. Besides, it also looks great as casual wear when the twin set is matched with a pair of jeans or slack. It is great to wear for outdoor activities or for short travelling.
There are many ways of wearing the twin set sweaters for trendy and stylish looks. Layering looks is one of the fashion trends today. Hence many women are comfortable in matching and mixing pieces to create multiple fashionable looks. Sometimes we can choose not to wear the twin set sweater together, instead we can wear them separately for individual look. Besides, we also can choose to mix and match with sweaters and shells of other patterns and colours. The twin set sweaters are definitely a practical and worthy investment to the fashion wardrobe due to its versatility and functionality.
